689: Anne Wojcicki
Former CEO of 23andMe.
Born: 28 July 1973, San Mateo County, California, United States of America
Anne is also a co-founder of the company.
Anne holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology.
She co-founded 23andMe with Linda Avey and Paul Cusenza in 2006 after growing tired of Wall Street’s attitude towards the medical field.
Anne was previously married to a Google co-founder and has two children with him. Her sister Susan is the CEO of YouTube. In 2018, Anne’s networth was estimated at $440 Million.
In March 2025, 23andMe announced it was filing for bankruptcy, a move many saw coming after many of the board members all resigned the previous September, citing their reason as being unhappy with Anne's leadership and efforts to make the company privately owned.
After the bankruptcy filing was announced, customers across the world voiced concerns that their genetic data would be sold to third party bidders. Twenty-seven states and the District of Columbia all filed lawsuits against the company in order to stop 23andMe from doing just that.
In June 2025, news broke that Anne's nonprofit company, TTAM Research Institute, would be purchasing the vast majority of 23andMe and also protect the customer information with the purchase. According to the news release about the sale, TTAM will be acquiring 23andMe for $305 Million.
